WhatsApp is used by almost all smartphone users right now, it is an absolutely free-to-use app, through which you can make a free message or video call to anyone. How can I transfer to another phone?
WhatsApp has provided many work features for its users. One of these is the backup of WhatsApp chat. Tells you how the chat of the old device can be transferred to the new device.
In today’s time, if you are shifting from your old phone to a new phone then it is not as difficult as before. But there are some things that sometimes remain in the old device. Especially text messages, which we sometimes forget to backup.
WhatsApp has the option to bring all your messages from the old phone to the new phone. WhatsApp is an instant messaging app and almost everyone uses it. Therefore it becomes necessary to transfer the chat present in the old device to the new device. WhatsApp chats not only contain the necessary contacts and information, but also include media attachments which are also needed in the new device. The easiest way to transfer WhatsApp chats is to backup them on Google Cloud or iCloud and after that you can restore the chat on your new phone.
For android device
To transfer old chats to your new phone, you must first open WhatsApp in the old phone. Then tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen.
- Go to Settings and then click on Chats
- Then tap on Chats backup
- After this you can choose to backup chats manually or automatically (weekly, monthly etc).
If you choose to backup chats manually, WhatsApp will create a backup on Google Drive at the same time. And then the next time you backup WhatsApp, you will have to repeat the whole process again. If you choose Backup automatically, WhatsApp will backup your chats every week or month without having to do anything.
Now when you install WhatsApp in the new phone, you will be asked to recover old chats and media from Google Drive.
Our advice is that before using WhatsApp in the new phone, back up the chats in your old phone.
- Go to your Apple ID and turn on iCloud
- Now open WhatsApp and go to Settings
- Then click on Chats and then tap on Chat Backup. Here also you can manually or automatically choose the backup option. You also get the option of including or not including the video.
Now when you run WhatsApp on the new device, you will be asked to restore the old chat from iCloud.
Important tip – If you are moving from iOS to Android or from Android to iOS then you will not be able to restore old chat in new device. Because iOS does not restore from Google Drive and Android from iCloud.
